The American Association of University Women is a national organization
that promotes equity for all women and girls, lifelong education,
and positive social change. The AAUW offers scholarships, action
for gender equity, and support for personal and professional growth,
community leadership, and friendship.
American Federation of Teachers
The American Federation of Teachers was founded in 1916 to represent
the economic, social and professional interests of classroom teachers.
It is an affiliated international union of the AFL-CIO. The AFT
has more than 3,000 local affiliates nationwide, 43 state affiliates,
and more than 1.3 million members.
AFT Michigan
We are the 35,000 member state federation of the 1.3 million member
American Federation of Teachers. We represent PreK-12 and ISD teachers
and support staff, community college and university faculty, lecturers,
administrators and graduate employees, and city and credit union

Council About Parochiaid
Council of Organizations and Others For Education About Parochiaid
(CAP) is organized to provide education on the following subjects:
the preservation of religious liberty; the separation of church
and state; and the importance of public education in a democracy.
The Council also educates the public regarding the risks of granting
governmental aid to nonpublic schools in Michigan.

Agency (EDDRA). EDDRA is dedicated to analyzing reports, dispelling

It represents an on-line version of the work Gerald Bracey has been
doing since 1991.
Great Lakes Center For Education Research and Practice
The mission of the Great Lakes Center is to identify, develop,
support, publish, and widely disseminate empirically sound research
on education policy and practices with the explicite goal of improving
the quality of public education for all students within the Great Lakes Region.

MASA is the professional association serving superintendents and
their first line of assistants. The mission of MASA is to develop
leadership and unity within its membership to achieve the continuous
improvement of public education in Michigan.

services for all of Michigan boards of education, and to advocate
for student achievement and public education.

The Michigan Education Association (MEA) is a self-governing education
association, representing more than 157,000 teachers, faculty and
education support staff throughout the state.

PTA is over 100 years old and was started by a group of women concerned
that children were working in sweatshops instead of going to school.
In the years since, PTA had been instrumental in improving the lives
of all children. PTA remains a Volunteer organization at all levels:
local, council, regional, state (over 100,000 members in Michigan)
and national (7 million nationwide).
National Council of Jewish Women Greater Detroit Section
The NCJW is the oldest national Jewish organization in the U.S.--the
Detroit Section of NCJW is the oldest Jewish women's organization
in Michigan. The rich and influential history of this organization
is indicative of our continuing impact on the Detroit community.
We are now in our 112th year as a non-profit organization committed
to advocacy, community service and the empowerment of women, children
and families.
